Teach your child to forgive him/herself

“If you haven’t forgiven yourself for something, how can you forgive others?”

Dolores Huerta

Let your child know that everyone makes mistakes and that a judgment in error does not make him/her a bad person. Help your child to have a positive perception of him/herself. Children need to practice self forgiveness in order to get past the mistake.

Help your child to understand that it is important to practice self love and to let go of the guilt, resentment, and regret. Also, don’t remind your child of past mistakes or make him/her feel bad about it constantly. Let your child know that no one is perfect and you love him/her unconditionally.
