Teach your children to be true to him/herself
“I prefer to be true to myself, even that the hazard of incurring the ridicule of others, rather than to be false, and to incur my own abhorrence.” Frederick Douglas
Younger children like to pretend to be someone else. Think about when you were a child. Was there someone you admired? What was it that was so magical about this person? While it is important for children to have role models, it is also important that they remain true to themselves. Help nurture and support your child’s strengths and talents. Teach your children to be proud of their accomplishment, their culture, and their religion. Help your children to empower him/herself and not allow peer pressure or media to divert their goals and aspirations.
